Jazz at Fargo’s Studio 222

Studio 222
In the heart of downtown Fargo, Studio 222 is a beacon for jazz enthusiasts. The venue at 222 North Broadway will be hosting a number of jazz nights this fall.
Their house band, for want of another term, the Simon Rowe Trio, will be cooking up something hot or cool, depending on your jazz preference, every Friday night at 8:30 pm. This combo will host local jazz greats and student groups and will even bring in some extra special groups from out of town, such as the world-influenced Eastern Blok from Chicago.

Eastern Blok
Eastern Blok combines the rich traditions of Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Serbia. Their music has Latin, flamenco and klezmer elements, along with European classical music and American jazz. Sometimes called Balkan fusion, it is at once sophisticated and timeless but also very jam-oriented and playful.
The cover is $10 for adults and $5 for students. And, liquid libations are provided by Juano’s
and John Alexander’s. All events are sponsored by the Jazz Arts Group.

Simon Rowe Trio
The Simon Rowe Trio is actually two bands with slightly different names. The
Simon Rowe Trio (SRT) is composed of Bill Law on bass, Allen Carter on drums, and Simon Rowe doing the honors on piano. When Rowe takes on the organ it becomes the Simon Rowe Organ Trio (SROT) with Nick Fryer on guitar, Allen Carter on drums.
