Fresh Faces at Myspace
Wendy’s (the hamburger enterprise–not a person) and MySpace Records have teamed up to launch a new Internet series called “Fresh Faces.” Building on Wendy’s motto of ‘You Know When It’s Real,’ the ongoing Web program consists of nine episodes from three different emerging artists, showing what a ‘day in the life’ of a budding new artist is like. Each Fresh Faces artist has three episodes dedicated exclusively to them and can be seen at www.myspace.com/wendys. In addition, each artist offers site vistors a 3-song EP available for free download on the site. A new episode will debut every Wednesday throughout the series.
The first episode of the final series installment featuring Madison,WI’s self-described, “doo-wop punk” band, Locksley (www.myspace.com/locksley) is up now at www.myspace.com/wendys. Previously featured were Charleston, SC’s alternative pop rock artist Friends For Hire (www.myspace.com/friendsforhire) and LA hip hop artist IamOMNI (www.myspace.com/IamOMNI).
Locksley self-released their debut album Don’t Make Me Wait in 2007. Considerable touring followed, including a stint as both the opener and backing band for Kinks legend Ray Davies, as well as performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Late Night With Conan O’Brien. They released a 3-song Locksley RockBand pack in 2008, a feature as MTV’s Artist of the Week, and several high-profile song placements, including the movie Cloverfield. Their sophomore album, Be In Love, is set to hit stores January 26th, 2010.
Two more episodes will premiere Wednesday December 9 and Wednesday December 16, marking an end to the groundbreaking series breaking new artists on the verge.
